This Privacy Policy explains how the Code4Privacy Hackathon (“we,” “us,” “our”) collects, uses, discloses, and protects personal data when you register for or participate in our virtual hackathon and related events. By submitting your application and participating, you consent to the practices described below.

- Enforce our Code of Conduct and address any reports of misconduct
- Data Sharing & Disclosure
- Service Providers: We share only the minimum necessary data with third party service providers
- Judges & Mentors: Teams’ names, project descriptions, and contact emails
- Legal Requests: Disclosed if required by law or to protect rights and safety
- Anonymized Data: Aggregated statistics (e.g., number of teams, geographic spread)
- Data Retention
- Registration & Application Data: Retained for 1 month after the completion of the hackathon
- Project Submissions: Retained for 1 month for archival, promotional, and reproducibility purposes
- Communications & Feedback: Retained for 1 month
- Usage Logs: Raw logs and aggregated data deleted after 1 month
- Your Rights
Under applicable laws, you may:
- Access your personal data
- Rectify inaccuracies
- Erase data (subject to legal or archival exceptions)
- Restrict or object to processing
- Port your data in machine-readable form

- Security Measures
We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures, including:
- Encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest (where supported).
- Role-based access controls.
- Regular vendor security assessments.

Open only to participants aged 18 or older. We do not knowingly collect data from minors.
- Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Policy to reflect changes in practices or legal requirements. We will post the revised version with an updated “Last updated” date. Continued participation constitutes acceptance of those changes.
